About Me
The Early Years
My musical journey began at the age of ten, fueled by a deep passion for drumming and songwriting. Over the years, I have developed my expertise across a wide range of instruments, including various percussion instruments, guitar, piano, bass, and vocals.
Over the years I’ve had the privilege of performing with diverse bands, exploring genres such as rock, pop, funk, hip-hop, classical, reggae, and jazz. This extensive experience has significantly contributed to my musical versatility and depth.
Education
My formal music education started in grade school band and advanced through high school, where I excelled in the marching band as well as led my own bands with friends and family. I continued my studies at the collegiate level for six years, majoring in music at the University of the Pacific, San Joaquin Delta College, and California State University, Stanislaus. My academic focus included music theory, performance, and composition, with a minor in child psychology. I had the honor of studying under the esteemed Max Simoncic and Dr. Bowen, and I performed with various university ensembles, including the Concert Band, Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, Choir, and Guitar Ensemble.
Professional Career
Since 2005, I have been dedicated to providing private music instruction in the California Valley and surrounding regions, teaching piano, guitar, drums, bass, and voice. I am deeply grateful for all my students, whose enthusiasm has greatly enhanced my own understanding and appreciation of music.
In addition to teaching, I spend my free time composing music and performing both locally and on tour. My passion also extends to authoring instructional music education books for aspiring musicians and developing curriculum materials for fellow educators.
